One of the most iconic hotels in the North West, Bredbury Hall, has secured its future following a multi-million pound refinancing deal.
The deal with Allied Irish Bank (GB)* was managed by Paul Smith and Martin Gray, both of Duff & Phelps Debt Advisory.
First opened in 1812, Bredbury Hall is set on seven acres of private grounds in Goyt Valley, just over two miles from Stockport town centre and under ten miles from Manchester Airport, with motorway links to the major northern cities.
Bangladesh businessman Golam Sarwar, who owns the five-star Hotel Sarina in Dhaka, acquired the hotel in 2015 and since that time has invested significantly in the landmark venue.
Golam Sarwar stated:
“This successful refinancing deal is of significant importance to Bredbury Hall, its customers and its employees as it will enable us to continue the project we began when we acquired the hotel in 2015.
“Our immediate plans include refurbishing the bedrooms and launching a new restaurant. This follows the work we have already done upgrading the reception area and wedding venue, improvements to the nightclub and introduction of a second informal brassiere restaurant.”
Relationship Manager David Booth from Allied Irish Bank (GB) used his specialist knowledge and experience of the leisure sector to tailor the right finance package for Bredbury Hall.
David said:
“This is an exciting period with redevelopment plans afoot for Bredbury Hall. I am pleased to be working with Golam Sarwar and the team at Duff & Phelps to support the future growth of the hotel.”
Paul Smith, Managing Director, Debt Advisory, Duff & Phelps who advised on the deal stated:
“We are delighted to have played a key role in raising the funding and securing a new finance partner in Allied Irish Bank (GB) for the redevelopment of this iconic hotel.”
Bredbury Hall has been managed by Assured Hotels on a day-to-day basis with Golam Sarwar remaining the main shareholder. Amenities already include a restaurant, as well as a nightclub (Friday and Saturday nights) in an adjoining 16th-century barn conversion. Airport parking and transfers are available, and conference facilities include 14 elegant meeting rooms.
