Light Cinema Stockport will open this Friday, 24th November, bringing the fastest growing UK cinema brand to Redrock Stockport.
The scheme also includes Zizzi and Pizza Express, both of whom opened last week, with GBK and MangoBean Coffee to follow in the New Year. This will be The Light’s eighth cinema and is part of an expansion programme that is set to open 20 more in the next 3 years.
The Light Cinema was co-founded seven years ago by Keith Pullinger along with business partner John Sullivan. Both have extensive experience in cinema and property development. Keith stated ‘our philosophy is to offer a really good quality cinema, appealing to everyone, and with pricing kept at a sensible level. The Light believes in good service, community interaction, customer experience, people and content.’ The aim is to provide a dynamic cinema experience offering more than the usual multiplex.
The Light Cinema Stockport has a total of 914 with 10 screens with capacities from 42 to 177. All screens are licensed and have extra wide luxury reclining seats with side tables so guests can bring their drink and food in with them to see their chosen film.
The new Business Manager for Light Cinema Stockport is Jamie Pitt who has over 10 years of hospitality experience within Manchester working for Carluccios (Spinningfields), CAU (MediaCityUK) and Gaucho (Manchester).
“We are really looking forward to welcoming the people of Stockport into the cinema and to Redrock. It will add another evening leisure destination to the area so guests can come and enjoy a film and eat a meal at the new restaurants before or afterwards. We aim for Light Stockport to be a hub for the local community.”
The spacious café-bar offers local beers and food as well as the usual variety of wines, spirits, soft drinks, popcorn and ice cream. Light Cinemas like to support local suppliers so Stockport has a choice of irresistible locally made cakes, Dizzy Blonde by Robinson’s, and savoury pies from speciality pie maker ‘Lord of the Pies’; options include ‘The Stockport Pie’ made with Robinson’s ale, ‘Cheshire Lamb’, ‘Confit Pork with Bury Black Pudding’, and ‘Spinach and Goats Cheese’, along with a ‘monthly special’.
