Thanks to the delivery of a fantastic new chopper-style trike, purchased with grant funding from Life Leisure’s David Hopkins Foundation, children with disabilities who attend Independent Options in Hazel Grove are riding high, learning new skills and getting lots of all-important exercise with their families in the fresh air.
Lucy Sawdon, Fundraising Manager for Independent Options said,
“We are a registered charity that offers highly personalised support services for children and adults who have a wide range of disabilities. Our aim is to enable more people to live the life that they want and help ease pressure on their families. Outdoor play and exercise is really important and allows families to come together in a safe and secure environment.
“As a charity finances are always under pressure and the funding which enabled us to buy the new trike, which has already brought so much fun to the children and their families, would normally be beyond our reach. We couldn’t have dreamed of purchasing it without the support of the David Hopkins Foundation.”
Mandy Waller of Life Leisure in Stockport is keen to encourage more local good causes to apply for funding to the Foundation,
“It was a real delight to see the trike in action, we are so pleased to be able to help make such a difference and support such a worthwhile charity. Getting the children active and bringing them so much pleasure is just fantastic to see.
“We accept applications by individuals living in Stockport or registered charities or clubs that are based in the Stockport Borough for amounts up to £500 for individuals and £1,000 for clubs. The funds are raised by our own staff through a myriad of fundraising activities and it is there to be accessed by local causes, enabling children and adults from any background to become more active and participate in their chosen sport or physical activity.”
The grant application form is simple to complete, so if you would like to apply for funding for your activity or project from the David Hopkins Foundation please visit www.lifeleisure.net/enterprise/charity
