Life Leisure has launched a new campaign to encourage Stockport residents to get moving for just 30 minutes every day.
The Move Stockport 30 in 30 Challenge invites everyone in the borough to complete 30 minutes of exercise every day for 30 days during September and see what difference it makes. Whether it’s walking the school run, dancing in the kitchen, joining a class, or cycling to work, every move matters.
Studies show that 30 minutes a day can bring a range of health benefits, and three 10-minute bursts of activity can also be just as effective and might make it seem less daunting to squeeze into an already busy schedule. Possible ways to feel better may include:
- Improved heart health, mobility and strength
- Lift your mood and reduce stress and anxiety
- Better quality sleep, confidence and mental clarity
- Connect with family, friends or colleagues
To take part, Stockport residents are invited to aim to complete 30 minutes of movement every day for 30 days this September and share their journey on social media using the hashtags #everymovecounts and #movestockport.
A range of classes, walking groups, and low-impact sessions will also be hosted at Life Leisure centres across the borough to explore different ways to move, and 24th September will see a choice of free activities on offer at Stockroom. Book online via Eventbrite.
For extra encouragement, Life Leisure has also produced a free 30-Day movement tracker (with versions for both children and adults), and will also be sharing daily motivation via the Life Leisure app.
