Large companies need to adopt the same entrepreneurial spirit as their smaller counterparts in order to boost economic growth, the CIPD has suggested.
The organisation said that big businesses should encourage a culture of intrapreneurialism to foster innovation and growth.
And it seems as though employees want to do just that. Some 37 per cent of workers said they would welcome the opportunity to take on a more intrapreneurial role within the workplace.
However, just 12 per cent of organisations encourage and facilitate such behaviour, the poll revealed.
Claire McCartney, research advisor at the CIPD, said that successful businesses depend on innovative ideas. She also claimed that good people management is crucial to the long-term success of any enterprise.
