The latest recruit at Fairhurst Estates is a little off their normal radar as the Property Management team of Chartered Surveyors have recently purchased a Drone – an aerial, remote controlled video and stills camera, which will provide clients with a quick and cost effective answer to surveys!
The Drone (an example pictured left) will have many beneficial uses to the business: the Building Dept are planning to use it to enhance roof surveys where it will reveal high definition images of a roof’s condition and in particular provide visuals of inaccessible or hard to reach sections of a roof.
Members of Fairhurst Estates will be undertaking the UAPQ-s qualification to demonstrate pilot competence of the drone.
Subsequently FEL will be applying for a PFAW (permission for aerial work) licence with the Civil Aviation Authority which will provide the business with the means to undertake aerial work for gain.
It’s likely to take around 2 months to obtain the PFAW, the first trainee, Jonathan Hyde, (Senior Building Surveyor) will be undertaking his ground training next week, and flight assessment in early July. Howard Derbyshire (Building Director) and Pete Ewbank (Senior Building Surveyor) will follow.
