Job seekers are being invited to consider a career with Stockport Council at a jobs fair being held on 19th September from 11am until 4pm at Stockport Town Hall.
This fair will offer the unique opportunity to explore the variety of roles available at Stockport Council and with its partner organisations. There will be colleagues representing the Council’s core services, including Adult and Children Social Care, Administration, Events and Digital Services.
There will also be the opportunity to access support in CV and application writing, explore voluntary placements and staff from the Job Centre will be on hand to help.
The Stockport Council Jobs Fair will also give residents the opportunity to speak to recruiting mangers’ face to face, asking questions and finding out more about roles, employee benefits and what it is like to be part of the team. In some cases, attendees will be able to hand CVs directly to recruiting managers and even take part in an on the day informal interview.
There is no need to book in advance: just turn up on the day and find out more about what it is like to be part of the team here at Stockport Council.
Eunice Chan was among those who got a job via the Stockport Council Jobs Fair in 2022; she said of her experience:
“I think working for local libraries is a good opportunity to know more about the local community and people. There was not any job opening when I went to the job fair. The staff at the counter advised me to leave my contact details. A few weeks later, I got an email asking if I would be interested in the role of Casual Library Assistant.
“Now I’ve been working as a Casual Library Assistant for 6 months. I enjoy the job as I can meet a lot of friendly colleagues and customers. Being able to help people also gives me a sense of belonging to the community.”
Cllr Mark Hunter, Leader of Stockport Council, commented:
“There has never been a more exciting time to join team Stockport. We are ambitious for all of our residents, businesses and everyone who spends time in our borough. We can offer you a chance to make a real difference to the lives of the people of Stockport, a huge variety of different roles and the opportunity to work for an organisation certified as members of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter.”
