Travel group, Jet2, has announced it will for the first time begin flying two new routes from Manchester Airport to Morocco from October 2024.
The group, which includes the UK’s largest tour operator, Jet2holidays, and the UK’s third largest airline, Jet2.com, will run twice-weekly flights from Manchester Airport to Marrakech, alongside a twice-weekly service to Agadir on the country’s Atlantic coast.
Flights and holidays have already gone on sale for both the Winter 24/25 and Summer 25 seasons and are part of a major expansion of the travel group’s offer in Morocco, with 17 weekly flights to the two cities beginning from 3rd October 2024 from six airports across the UK.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said:
“We are thrilled to be giving customers and independent travel agents even more choice thanks to the launch of Morocco as a brand-new destination. With year-round availability to the magical destinations of Marrakech and Agadir, we are giving holidaymakers access to two famous holiday hotspots. We are incredibly excited about these new destinations, and we know how immensely popular they will be with our customers.”
Stephen Turner, commercial director at Manchester Airport, said:
“Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ addition of these two Moroccan destinations is fantastic news for us and for our passengers, and it will provide them with even greater choice.
“Passengers are looking to broaden their horizons and are seeking out exciting, emerging destinations which offer great value for money, so we’re sure Agadir and Marrakech will prove extremely popular.”
The expansion of Jet2’s offer from Manchester Airport comes alongside further investment in the wider North West region announced last week (19th October). The group has opened a 150,000 square foot Retail Operations Centre in Middlewich, Cheshire, which will manage the more than 25 million in-flight retail products handled by Jet2.com flights each year.
The site, the first of its kind for a UK airline, will process drinks and non-perishable food, as well as beauty products and duty-free products sold on flights, and has led to the creation of over 300 new jobs in the region.
