CX Director at customer experience specialists Insight6 and long-standing Marketing Stockport member, Chris Lowe, is preparing to take on the Manchester Marathon and raise funds for conservation charity, WWF.
Chris (pictured above in fairy garb while taking part in the London Marathon) is a keen run, however, recent marathon attempts have been stalled after contracting Covid-19. The longer-term impact of the infection on his physical abilities has unfortunately seen him pull out of two marathons in the last nine months. He said:
“This is my third attempt to complete a marathon in the last nine months, having trained for them but then having to pull out of 2 after getting Covid. That’s a lot of training to get to complete just one marathon! I am definitely going to get there this time…. not letting Covid or anything else get in the way!”
Chris is using the run to raise funds for global wildlife conservation charity, WWF, and is inviting anyone who wants to support his marathon to make a sponsorship donation via his Just Giving page.
Commenting on why he is choosing to raise funds for WWF, Chris Lowe said:
“I feel it is about time I made a small contribution back to the animal kingdom. Humans control the world, and it is easy to forget how our everyday actions detrimentally impact animals. Animals don’t get to choose if we destroy or take their homes and habitat, and sadly we are often too far away from their reality to consider it.”
The annual Manchester Marathon will take place on April 3rd, returning to the traditional spring timing after two years of Covid-19 disruption to mass participation sporting events.
WWF is a global charity that aims to address the world’s most important environmental challenges: safeguarding the natural world, tackling climate change and enabling people to use only their fair share of natural resources.
