Icelandic airline, Icelandair have announced the return of flights between Manchester Airport and Arctic island nation’s capital, Reykjavík.
While flights were grounded due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Icelandic flag carrier is now encouraging for tourists to return to Iceland, and is offering discounted fares to mark the occasion.
Passengers booking by the 30th August for flights between 2nd September and 7th October can book return flights from £85 as part of an introductory offer to celebrate the return of Icelandair to Manchester Airport.
Fully vaccinated tourists travelling to Iceland can enter the country without quarantine and on proof a negative PCR or rapid antigen test. Passengers who are partially or unvaccinated will have to quarantine for five days, as well as having a negative test result. The volcanic island nation, first inhabited by Viking settlers 1000 years ago, is on the UK’s Green List: passengers returning to the UK require no quarantine period, only a negative PCR test from up to 72 hours ahead of the returning flight.
With flights resuming to Manchester Airport, 2021 will mark 15 years of Icelandair flights to the Northern Hub, with the first connection to Reykjavík-Keflavík Airport taking off in 2006.
