Stockport Council has commissioned repair works to be carried out to Hulme Hall Road Culvert in Cheadle Hulme.
The culvert conveys a watercourse from Heathbank Road to Station Road and the work will be carried out by a contractor on the Council’s behalf. Recent investigations into historical flooding incidents at the Hulme Hall Railway Bridge highlighted defects that require remedial works.
The culvert under Hulme Hall Road is to be renewed completely across the road to address defects that resulted in a collapse of the carriageway close to Hulme Hall Bridge.
Works begin on 11th February and it will be necessary to close Hulme Hall Road to traffic for one week.
Councillor Kevin Hogg, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Public Realm, said: “The renewal works have been programmed to coincide with the school half-term holiday and a signed diversion route will be in operation during the work. The Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause road users.”
