The Hughes/Speedworks Motorsport Team are to compete in the entire 24H International Endurance Series, powered by Hankook, in their Ginetta G50.
Following their second podium finish in the Hankook 24H Dubai, the team will race in the whole series – in Dubai, Mugello in Italy, Zandvoort in Holland, Paul Ricard in the South of France, Barcelona in Spain, and Brno in the Czech Republic.
Former British Touring Car Championship racer, and Team Sponsor, Tony Hughes will pilot the Team’s Ginetta G50 alongside Historic racer, Ross ‘The Breadman’ Warburton as the duo seek to build on their great start to the campaign and following their second podium finish in Dubai.
The beautiful Tuscan surroundings of Mugello will be the setting for their Italian podium quest following a disappointing outing last year as Hughes explains:
“I see no reason why we can’t be pushing for the podium once again. It’s not going to be easy, as [Italian Team] Nova Race have three G50s entered again, and Optimum Motorsport are taking their G55 which won in Dubai, so we’ll have to get our heads down, but it’s do-able”.
The Team also has unfinished business in Holland, where Team Boss Christian Dick found himself involved in a heavy crash last year; taking the final podium spot despite not finishing the race was little consolation and the Team will want a fine showing to make up for it.
The remaining rounds will all be new to the Hughes/Speedworks line-up, but with the high-tech facility at Paul Ricard, the Formula 1 standards at Barcelona, and the stunning tree-lined Moto GP track at Brno, all should be races to remember.
It is the plan that the Hughes Ginetta will also be joined by the Speedworks ‘sister’ Aston Martin of Global Racing raced by former FunCup racer John Gilbert and cameo appearances from guest drivers throughout the season.
