Households in Stockport should have received their letter and unique access code to complete the Census on Sunday 21st March 2021.
Census 2021 is a digital first Census, which means people are encouraged to complete their Census online where possible.
There is a lot of support available in Stockport for those who need help to complete their form digitally.
For residents with limited online access:
- Book a computer at your local library by calling 0161 217 6009 to book a 2-hour slot.
- Book an in-person appointment at one of two Census Support Centres in Stockport; search for the nearest Centre to your home postcode via the government website.
- Request a paper copy of the Census 2021 questionnaire by calling the ONS for free on 0800 876 6276.
Additional guidance to help complete your Census forms online can be found on the Census 2021 website, where there are walkthrough videos to guide you.
The census will include questions about your sex, age, work, health, education, household size and ethnicity. And, for the first time, there will be a question asking people whether they have served in the armed forces, as well as voluntary questions for those aged 16 and over on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Iain Bell, deputy national statistician at the Office for National Statistics, said:
A successful census will ensure everyone from local government to charities can put services and funding in the places where they are most needed.
“This could mean things like doctors’ surgeries, schools and new transport routes. That’s why it is so important everyone takes part and we have made it easier for people to do so online on any device, with help and paper questionnaires for those that need them.”
Census results will be available within 12 months, although personal records will be locked away for 100 years, kept safe for future generations.
