Self Assessment taxpayers are being invited to upcoming webinars ahead of requirements to use Making Tax Digital (MTD) to declare their income and pay any tax owed to HMRC.
Legal requirements for anyone with income from property or self-employment to use Making Tax Digital are set to come into effect from April 2026 for those earning £50,000 per year, from April 2027 for incomes over £30,000, and April 2028 for incomes over £20,000 (subject to additional legislation being introduced).
HMRC webinars will seek to help individuals understand:

- the rules, who will be affected and when
- making informed software choices
- authorising your agent, if applicable, and signing up to MTD
- utilising any benefits and opportunities
Live one-hour webinars will take place on Thursday 9th October, at 3.45pm; Tuesday 14th October, at 3.45pm; and Thursday 16th October, at 1.45pm, and will use the GoToWebinar platform.
