Stockport Council is inviting residents and stakeholders in the town to share their thoughts ahead of the development of a new design code to inform future planning decisions.
A design code is a set of simple and concise design requirements which outline the parameters for new development in an area. Their purpose is to provide clarity about design expectations through the planning application process.
Stockport Council is currently in the early stages of preparing a new design code to help ensure that new development in the borough creates even better and more sustainable places and spaces. It will take forward the design principles and priorities set out in the existing Stockport Town Centre Residential Design Guide, and use the Character and Urban Density Study as a key piece of evidence to support the production of the code.
In order to ensure the code addresses the things which are important to local people, anyone who lives, works, visits or studies in Stockport is being invited to complete a short online survey. The survey will ask respondents what they would most like to see improved and what they feel are priorities are for future development in the town.
