Robbers attacked a woman as she arrived home in an attempted carjacking.
The 25-year-old was grabbed from behind as she got out of her car on Queensway, Heald Green, on Sunday (October 14) at 6.15pm.
Police say two men tried to force her to hand over the keys to a Volkswagen Golf. But they fled empty-handed when the woman’s husband heard the commotion and came outside to challenge them.
The attack is similar to a carjacking on Beechwood Avenue, Reddish, on October 5. Two robbers targeted another woman who appeared to be on her own, hitting her with a metal bar and stealing her Audi TT.
Inspector Stephen Gilbertson, from the west area neighbourhood police, said: “It would have been frightening for a lady to arrive home, park on the driveway and the next thing she knows is she is grabbed from behind.
“Fortunately her husband was on hand and his appearance frightened the burglars off.”
Police have appealed for witnesses and describe the would-be robbers as two slim, Asian males, both in their early 20s and 5ft 6in tall.
One had a short beard and wore a black zipped up hooded top with jeans. The other wore a balaclava, hooded top and dark jeans.
