St Ann’s Hospice has been given a head start in its fundraising efforts after receiving around 400 new hats from an anonymous donor.
The hats can be hired or bought from its charity shops in Cheadle or Northenden with income from sales going to help provide free care for patients.
Stockport is famed for its hat heritage and St Ann’s is hoping its latest stock has arrived at the perfect time approaching the summer season.
Sarah Thomas, (pictured left) shops area manager, said:
“Hats seem to be back in fashion and thanks to a generous donation of hats worth thousands of pounds we’ve got a huge selection available.
“We’ve got all styles and sizes, from fascinators to so-called hat-inators which are a little larger, to the more traditional bigger hats for those who prefer them.
“The hats are in all colours and for every age group and are designed for any special occasion, such as weddings, a day at the races or even a shopping trip and they’re all new.”
Dozens of ‘pre-loved’ wedding dresses are also on sale at the charity’s shop on High Street, Cheadle, which has a first floor bridal section.
The charity has 14 charity shops, half of them in Stockport, and relies on donations of clothes and other items from the public. The goods are sold to generate much-needed revenue for the hospice which provides free care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers.
