The Growth Company is continuing its United for Ukraine campaign into 2023 to support Ukrainian refugees into employment and providing opportunities in education.
Launched in April 2022 following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the programme aims to connect those arriving in Greater Manchester to escape the conflict with employment and training opportunities. Greater Manchester’s Business Growth Hub has recruited four Ukrainian colleagues into its team as part of the scheme, and launched a dedicated job board for employers to reach those displaced by the ongoing conflict.
To date, the campaign has supported 100 employers, attracted over 300 job vacancy posts on the website, helped over 1,000 Ukrainians to access support and seen 100 successful job starts.
For businesses and employers, the United for Ukraine initiative provides an easy and direct way to communicate job opportunities to Ukrainian nationals arriving in the UK. Employment plays a key role in helping Ukrainians adjust to living in the UK, and given the unique circumstances affecting them, the campaign is specifically looking for job opportunities meeting the following requirements:
- available for a minimum of three months
- contain salary details
- pay at least the Real Living Wage of £10.90 per hour and an appropriate rate for the role
- be contactable via telephone, rather than an online-only application
