What is the Environmental Business Pledge?

      The Environmental Business Pledge is a FREE advice
      and award scheme developed by Manchester City
      Council, and delivered by Stockport Metropolitan Borough
      Council in partnership with Groundwork, to support
      businesses in Stockport to improve their environmental
      performance, whilst saving money.

Who can join the scheme?

Any business or organisation with premises within the boundaries of Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council is eligible to join the scheme. Businesses must be compliant with all applicable waste legislation to be accepted onto the scheme.

What services are available to my business?

By joining the Environmental Business Pledge you will receive FREE advice and support on:

• Reducing your energy usage
• Reducing your energy bills, saving you money
• Monitoring and reducing your carbon footprint
• Minimising water usage
• Recycling
• Waste management and producing less waste
• Advice on environmental legislation, to take away the worry about fines
• Free environmental resource efficiency audits

How can I promote my membership to my customers?

Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council rewards businesses that sign up to the Environmental Business Pledge with bronze, silver and gold awards to recognise their commitment to making environmental improvements. Once you achieve an award you will receive a certificate to display and an award logo you can put on your website, business cards/letterhead and marketing literature.
