A number of Marketing Stockport members have recently supported the Gander programme in Stockport, which is helping local students gain insight and experience of the local commercial landscape.
Stuart Bradley from Trust supported a student from Cheadle & Marple College, by providing a week long work placement, enabling them to gain a fantastic insight into the world of branding and web design.
Jo Shippen from Hatters, Sallyann Betts from Rowan Consultancy and Sharon Seville from F1rst Recruitment spent a morning at Aquinas College, providing interview practice for law students looking to enter the workplace, giving practical advice and building their confidence.
This latest support follows that already provided this year by Graham Saul from Cloud 9 Hosts and Michelle Hay of Michelle Hay Training.
Gander has been shortlisted in the Collaboration category in the Greater Manchester Skills for Business Awards and the partnership between the programme and Marketing Stockport members, is real evidence of that, as the programme goes from strength to strength.
Gander programme co-ordinator, Andrew Deighton, said ” the Gander programme can only provide support for local students with the help of business people from across Stockport and we’re really grateful to all those that have offered their time and expertise so far.”
If you would like to get involved, it is simple to register your support at www.gandercareers.com where you can select what category you are willing to support and your industry sector, enabling Gander to only contact you with relevant requests.
