The team at Stockport-based Gorvins Solicitors has chosen the Genesis Research Trust as its charity of the year and committed to a series of fundraising events to support the cause.
To kick off its fundraising drive 14 members of the team took part in the Great Manchester Run and raised £1,400 – pictured below
The firm is also hosting a charity football tournament with suppliers and clients to raise funds and also raise awareness of Genesis Research Trust with its business networks.
The charity is chaired by Professor Robert Winston and its patron is TV presenter Fern Britton. Genesis raises funds for the largest UK-based collection of scientists and clinicians researching the causes and cures for conditions that affect the health of women and babies.
Gorvins efforts are being led by managing partner Lorraine Lockie who is taking part in a sponsored bike ride across Tanzania in November, with a fundraising target of £5,000.
Lorraine’s Tanzania trip marks the start of the firm’s latest CSR drive, which each year will see a different equity partner nominate a charity and lead fundraising activity.
Lorraine Lockie explained:
“As a firm we’ve always been committed to charity fundraising, but we wanted to ramp up our activity this year, with a focussed year-long campaign that is led from the top.
“Now our equity partners are leading the charge they have the chance to pick causes that they are really passionate about and do something totally out of the ordinary to raise money. My Tanzania challenge is a real once in a lifetime opportunity that I’m excited to be part of and hope will inspire others within the firm to push themselves to support a good cause.”
