Marge Hardy, a legal secretary at Stockport law firm Gorvins has celebrated half a century working for the company. Marge, 65 and from Cheadle Hulme, began her career with Gorvins at the tender age of 15, when the firm was called Smith, Fort & Symonds. Starting as an office junior, she progressed over the last five decades to become the senior partner’s secretary.
To celebrate Marge’s 50 years of service the firm held a surprise party at its Tiviot Dale offices and Marge was presented with a cake and gifts.
Marge said:
“Since joining the firm I’ve seen it grow and evolve into the successful business it is today. There have been so many changes, such as the move from typewriters to computers and how the growth of the internet has seen our client base grow from being entirely local to having a national reach.
“While there has been significant change during my time at the firm the sense of camaraderie and the enjoyable working environment has endured and I have made some wonderful friends.”
Lorraine Lockie, managing partner at Gorvins solicitors, said:
“Marge’s loyalty and commitment to the firm is absolutely fantastic, so it was really important for the entire firm to celebrate such a huge milestone. Marge has served the company extremely well and we hope she will continue to do so for years to come.”
Gorvins has a further three long-serving staff members, who have all been with the firm for over 25 years – Rachel Swettenham, private client executive in probate has been at the firm for 33 years and Jackie Archer and Lesley Bridson have both been at Gorvins for 25 years.
Lorraine Lockie added:
“It’s great that so many people within the firm stay here for so long. It’s reassuring to know that we’re getting it right and offering our team a work environment that they enjoy coming to.”
