Life Leisure is giving Stockport businesses a fantastic opportunity to get employees doing less than 1 x 30 minutes of moderate physical activity per week healthier and fit for 2016.
Employers and employees in Stockport can get more active and fit using the latest innovative technology and remote personal coaching support via the corporate actiLIFE scheme for 3 months for free!
Impressed with the actiLIFE project, Sport England have awarded funding for 150 places to deliver this free, three-month workplace health & wellbeing corporate initiative.
The actiLIFE programme has been running successfully at Life Leisure for over 12 months with voluntary participants and alongside the very successful GP referral programme, PARiS, but this is the first time an actiLIFE project has been set up to work alongside the corporate community locally.
The aim is to of help people get moving and more active by helping participants lose weight, to become more aware of their activity levels and to continue to be active after the initial 12-week period.
After an initial health check and body composition analysis with the specialist actiLIFE coach, employees are advised on activities, set targets and given wearable technology (above) to monitor the wearer’s daily activity, steps, distance, calories burnt and even the intensity of activity. Importantly, it uploads the data to a web-based portal where participants and their coaches can check progress against agreed targets and goals via an online dashboard.
Team challenges set throughout the project help provide additional motivation and encourage a sense of teamwork to benefit the office or workplace environment.
Regular users of the actiLIFE programme not only experience weight loss but they also gain a real enthusiasm towards physical activity.
Michelle Childs, Physical Activity & Health Manager at Life Leisure said: ‘We really want to get employers and employees behind this project; we have the funding to make a real difference in the workplace, helping people to get fitter and importantly healthier. We know that the workplace can often restrict the activity of employees and we urge people to come forward and give it a try.”
Participants will also be given a 10 session pass to Life Leisure to attend classes, swimming and gym facilities
Life Leisure is urging ‘inactive’, ‘non-sporty’ employers and their employees to come forward as places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. To register your interest, please call 0161 482 0900 or email: info@acti-life.net
