Aquinas College, in conjunction with Gander Careers, is hosting a college wide career advice day and would like businesses in Stockport to get involved.
On the 21st June, over 40 guest speakers from the world of business, and public sector, will deliver presentations on a wide range of career related topics.
The completed brochure of speakers, short biographies and topics will be given to GCSE A-level students to select up to 6 sessions to attend between 9:30am and 2:15pm on the day.
The students are currently making Career and Further Education choices and the event is designed to give employers an opportunity to explain how their businesses and services work, what the expectations of employers are, where skills gaps are waiting to be filled, and presenters have an audience of an interested talent pool of students.
Stephen Dootson, Gander Co-ordinator, would love to hear from any businesses in Stockport who can spare 90 minutes on the morning of the 21st June and are willing to make 2 short presentations on a work related topic, examples such as “why I started my own business”, “what working in media actually means”, “how to apply for an apprenticeship”, and so on. What is important to the students is that they are given good advice to allow them to make informed choices about their future. Session times and venues on the Aquinas Campus will be agreed and notified in advance of the event.
