Manchester Digital has announced the launch of two fully-funded training programmes for SMEs across Stockport and Greater Manchester.
The programmes add to the courses available in region through the government’s Skills for Growth investment, which saw Manchester Digital and North West Skills Academy offer training programmes in Leadership for Digital Growth last month.
The two two-day courses are open to non-technical staff to widen their knowledge and skills in either Project Management for Digital Transformation or Cybersecurity and Information Governance.
Project Management for Digital Transformation
This is a two-day course, with both virtual and in person delivery to choose from. The aim of the course is to equip non technical staff working in Greater Manchester SMEs with the knowledge, tools and processes to help widen your role and support the business as it grows focusing project management for digital transformation.
The course aims to provide both practical skills and knowledge, as well as leadership skills and provide a starting point for further professional development in project management. Course content will cover:
- Defining the business case
- Establishing scope
- Drawing up a plan for project delivery
- Identifying and managing risk
- Monitoring and tracking project progress
- Controlling change

Cyber Secure Training
The aim of the course is to equip non-technical staff working in SMEs with the knowledge, tools and processes to help prepare your business for high growth and continued digital transformation, by strengthening your core and operational knowledge, in Cybersecurity and Information Governance.
Participants will gain the knowledge needed to understand, reduce and respond to cyber security and data protection risks and breaches. Course content will include:
- Implementing an Information Security Management System in your organisation aligned to ISO27001
- Cyber Essentials controls
- Risk Management and Identifying issues to enable Cyber Procedures within a business
- Social Media use & Password protection
- Top Cyber Threats and how to mitigate them
- The importance of updates & backups
- Safe use of Wi-Fi and VPNs
- Encryption
