A Greater Manchester Police Chief Inspector has been arrested on suspicion of fraud.
46 year old Chief Inspector John Buttress had been based at Stockport before moving to his office at Greater Manchester Police headquarters at Central Park in Newton Heath where he was held on suspicion of mortgage fraud.
Following his arrest he was interviewed by officers from the Professional Standards Branch, who examine the internal affairs at GMP, before being released on bail until June 12th, pending further enquiries.
Until June 12th for the moment he has been allowed to return to work but has been placed on ‘restricted duties’ pending the outcome.
A statement from Greater Manchester Police said:
“On Tuesday, March 12, 2013, a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of fraud offences. He has been bailed until June 12, 2013, pending further enquiries.”
