Michelle Hay is plannng her next session as the first Stockport Works Safer event held at Clarke Nicklin’s prestigious Cheadle Royal offices has been ‘a great success’, accoding to the delegates who attended last month.
Guest speaker David Shorrock, former HSE Principal Inspector, gave a talk and valuable insight regarding the roles and responsibilities of the HSE and workplaces. Other topics that Michelle included were the number of Stockport improvement and prohibition notices that are currently on the HSE website.
Attendees also heard from a business owner who has first-hand experience of what happens when things go wrong and RIDDOR applies.
There was a quiz on various regulations that sit within the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 that are relevant to all businesses; the results were disappointing and confirmed the general lack of knowledge of responsibility of those in charge of workplaces.
Lively discussions took place on creating a health and safety culture and maintaining compliance.
For the next workshop, Michelle will focus on fire prevention measures that apply to all businesses to ensure business continuity and the value of risk assessments and how to risk assess.
Clarke Nicklin will also host the next event taking place on Wednesday 29th July.
