With just around six weeks to go, the three finalists vying for the coveted Stockport Employer of the Year title in the Stockport Business Awards 2017 are set to create a hard task for the judges.
Now in its 6th year, Stockport Business Awards were set up by Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants back in 2012 to recognise and reward business excellence in the town.
The Employer of the Year award is always a hotly-contested category and this year is sponsored by Stockport MBC. The shortlisted companies are IMS (Euro), Julian Wadden and SAS Daniels.
IMS (Euro) is a wholesaler of non-pharmaceutical medical consumables. It’s a vibrant and progressive company which has grown from a small 2-man company in 2006 to now over 50 employees and a trading performance which has had them recognised in the Greater Manchester 2017 Fastest 50 growing companies list. IMS (Euro) genuinely care for staff and show this by supporting them, and sharing success with them, making sure they are rewarded for their part. However, it’s their recruitment initiatives that really make them stand out, they’ll give anybody a chance, and often provide job opportunities, and a chance to get qualifications, to young people who wouldn’t have been given them otherwise.
Julian Wadden is one of South Manchester’s leading estate agents in sales, lettings, management and mortgage advice. The business began in 2007 with one branch in Heaton Moor and just four employees. They now have over 50 members of staff over five branches, with plans to open further branches and employ more people across Stockport in the future. They have a “Great Place to Work” strategy which results in a highly motivated workforce, and impressive attrition rates, especially for their industry. It’s their 10th anniversary in 2017 and as a reward to all the staff for their commitment over the past 10 years, the entire team will be attending Stockport Business Awards to celebrate this milestone.
SAS Daniels LLP is one of the leading professional legal and business advisers in the North West. In December 2015 the firm was awarded Investors in People Gold standard for the first time. This award is only given to the top 7% of accredited organisations across the UK and was a major achievement, in 2016 they built on this success by being awarded it for the second time. The firm are strongly committed to taking on apprentices and have been a key player in establishing the first ever Legal Apprenticeship Scheme over the past 6 years. SAS Daniels considers its staff to be its most important asset, and this is reflected in everything they do.
The Stockport Employer of the Year will be announced at a Black-Tie dinner at Stockport Town Hall on 12th October which 400 of Stockport’s finest will attend.
