Andrew Stunell MP welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister’s recent announcement that an extra £50 million will be given to boost employment of young people. The cash will go towards boosting the Youth Contract – a scheme that provides a simple cash incentive for businesses to take on young people.
Nick Clegg made the announcement in Salford last Tuesday.
Commenting, Andrew said – “This is making a real difference, with 4,000 young people a month now starting work because of the scheme. That’s 4,000 young people who are able to get on in life thanks to the Lib Dems being in Government.”
“I’ve been really pleased at the amount of businesses who have taken on young apprentices as a result of my 100 Stockport Apprentices in 100 days Challenge, and this recent announcement will help young people even more to get their foot on the ladder of employment.”
“I’d really encourage anyone with an interest in either taking on an apprentice, becoming an apprentice or encouraging a friend or family member into an apprenticeship, to have a look at the information packs on our ‘Million Jobs website’.
This will give you all the information you need to get involved with apprenticeships and help our young people get on in life.”
