Stockport Council is holding a series of events in a bid to recruit more foster carers.
The Council is keen to hear from anybody interested in fostering teenagers or sibling groups.
However, the Council is particularly keen to hear from people who have significant experience of working or caring for young people with additional needs.
A special open evening is being held at the Village Hotel, Cheadle on Thursday 6th February, from 6.30pm to 8.00pm for people to learn about the dedicated scheme which provides supportive placement for children with complex and additional needs.
Drop-in sessions are also being held every Friday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm in the Town Hall during January and February for people interested in getting more information about fostering.
Councillor Wendy Meikle, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Children & Young People, said:
“Fostering is a very challenging but hugely rewarding role and the Council is keen to recruit foster carers to look after children of all ages but in particular teenagers and sibling groups. Fostering a child can also help them reach their full potential, giving them stability and helping them to have the best possible start. There are many different types of fostering and one may be suitable for you. We are keen to hear from anyone who may be interested in the dedicated scheme and encourage them to come along to the open evening in February to find out more.”
