
Today marks the start of the official Euro ‘In or Out’ campaign. Marketing Stockport has no political affiliation but, as an organization focused on our business community, we are interested in the Euro debate.
Campaigning starts in earnest today as both camps work to rally support to ‘Vote Leave’ or to promote ‘Britain Stronger in Europe’.
The European Union (EU) Referendum takes place on 23rd June, when the UK will vote whether to remain a part of the European Union or go it alone.
Last time the UK held such a referendum was in 1975 when the UK voted to stay in the ‘European Economic Community’, originally known as the ‘Common Market in 1973.’
Last month UK Economist John Ashcroft spoke to some Stockport based businesses to explain the pros and cons of remaining or leaving, examining the Business case, the Political case, the economic case and the social case.
The conclusion? There was no business case to leave the EU
If we remain in the EU, we remain as we are.
If we leave the EU, there is uncertainty as to what happens next.
