Smart Works Greater Manchester is a charitable organisation based in St Peter’s Square, Stockport.
Smart Works provides a vital service to women in need who want to enter employment, either for the first time or who are returning to work.
A group of volunteers help to prepare for interview by offering advice on interview techniques, helping to build confidence and providing the perfect outfit.
Since opening in June 2015, Smart Works Greater Manchester has already helped over 250 women prepare for interview with over 70% entering employment.
The service at Smart Works Greater Manchester is open to any women in the Greater Manchester area who has a confirmed job interview for a paid position or a year-long apprenticeship.
“We welcome any woman who needs our service and has a confirmed job interview in place.
“Appointments must be made on behalf of our clients by one of the hundreds of referral organisations we work with across the UK. This could be the local Job Centre Plus, a Work Programme provider, or one of the numerous organisations that helps supports a women in her journey back to work. As an example, some of our key referrers include Centrepoint (homeless), Vision (ex-offenders), Solace (women’s refuge), Remploy (disabilities), Drive Forward (leaving care) and the Prince’s Trust (young people).”
It is vital to Smart Works that those women who most need their service are able to access it. They do not take self-referrals from clients, but are happy to advise on how best to get to Smart Works if you are unsure.
