Stockport Council is inviting job seekers to attend Stockport’s Jobs Fair on Tuesday 23rd September.
The event will take place at Stockport Town Hall on Edward Street, from 10.00am to 2.00pm and is open to anyone looking for a job or employment advice.
Organised by Stockport Council in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, the Jobs Fair will offer the opportunity for jobseekers to meet a wide range of employers that are recruiting for current positions.
There will also be a workshop session taking place at 11.00am which will explain Universal Credit.
Councillor Patrick McAuley, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said:
“Stockport Jobs Fair has been hugely successful in the past and is an example of why Stockport has the highest employment rate in Greater Manchester. The Jobs Fair allows jobseekers to meet a wide range of small and large employers, across a number of different sectors under one roof.
“People can also receive advice and guidance on skills and career opportunities. For Job Seekers this event could be the first step into a new career and perhaps a new life for some. If you or anyone you know are seeking work this is a great opportunity to get yourself known to employers.”
Catherine Hollingworth Stockport and Tameside Cluster Manager for DWP, said
“We are committed to supporting unemployed people and helping them get back into work. Building on the success of the last twelve months where we have seen a substantial reduction in the number of unemployed people, the Jobs Fair is another example of how we are working with our partners and local businesses to encourage more people into employment or training.”
