Stockport-based charity, Pure Innovations, is looking for new employers to ‘Dare to be Different’ and offer a work experience placement to a young adult with additional needs.
The charity works with young people in the borough with young people with SEND needs to gain the skills and confidence to access employment and is calling on more employers to consider offering supported internships to its service users.
Work experience can help young adults with additional needs discover where their strengths lie in the working world and help them gain confidence and access future work opportunities. Employers already participating in the scheme have reported gaining extra capacity for their teams at no extra cost, boosts to team morale and helped the organisation champion equality and diversity in the workplace.
Pure will also provide free disability awareness training for employers signing up to host a placement.
Pure Innovations has been providing support internships for over 12 years, and supported employment for over 30, and is recognised as a provider by the British Association of Supported Employment (BASE).
Supporting young people with SEND needs can fulfil part of a company’s CSR strategy as well as providing work and skills opportunities to young people who will feel valued and have the potential to contribute back to society in the long term through paid employment.
