A Stockport based firm specialising in vehicle tracking and security systems has been acquired by Dutch rival, Moving Intelligence.
Stockport based Phantom was established in 2002 by bothers, Stephen and Simon Cherry, offering vehicle tracking for caravans, motorhomes and private vehicles in the event of theft. The firm has since grown to offer a number of other vehicle security and tracking products, and the acquisition by Moving Intelligence will allow the Dutch firm to expand into the leisure market in the UK.
The acquisition of Phantom will grow Moving Intelligence to 84 total employees, with the Stockport based management team all remaining in place, and the group now has ambitions to protect over 250,000 moving objects through its tracking and security products.
Moving Intelligence CEO, Patrick Horst, commented:
“We are very pleased to be able to take over Phantom Ltd. The acquisition means that we are making a big step forward in expanding the boundaries of our market. The product range of Phantom Ltd., which distinguishes itself in the leisure vehicle market, is a welcome addition to our Dutch product range. On the other hand, our automotive solutions are particularly suitable for integration into the UK market.”
The takeover will allow Phantom’s UK customers to also benefit from Moving Intelligence’s products, already used in Germany and The Netherlands, and its relationships with a number of European car manufacturers. Horst continued:
With combining product ranges, we will create added value for the UK consumers and businesses, which will ultimately lead to an even stronger position on the UK market. Certainly, within the top segment of cars, Moving Intelligence is the preferred Dutch supplier for brands such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and Porsche. In addition, in the field of fleet management, there is still a world to be won in the United Kingdom.”
