DSG Auto Contracts, part of the DSG Group, are about to take on the Screwball Rally, to raise funds for the Together Trust.
Today’s latest business recruit to join Marketing Stockport have been committed supporters of fellow member the Together Trust, so far raising over £6,500 for the charity.
The team at DSG measure their fundraising on a special ‘parkometer’ wall chart.
DSG Auto Contracts managing director Phil Kehoe explains: “My friend and co-BNI member Jay Rooney decided a while back that we fancied a road trip. One afternoon back in January whilst having lunch, the Screwball Rally appeared on Facebook and within minutes it was booked.
“The rally is attended by between 80-100 cars, so we thought it would be a great networking opportunity for both of us, and a laugh at the same time.”
Initially, Phil and Jay were taking part for the fun of it but they soon realised that it was another great opportunity to raise funds for Together Trust and promote their BNI network.
Phil continues: “By turning the car into a mobile advert, we have been able to promote members of our local business group and raise funds. So far we have about £1,500 pledged through the BNI Pyramid Bramhall.”
Phil and Jay are self-funding the trip and all monies pledged will be given to the Together Trust.
“The next thing was to find a car, and travelling 2,500 miles, most would look for a diesel, said Phil. “But not us! We had a car in mind, a BMW 728i M Sport and it was not long before we had found the right car and we managed to get it for £750.00, the maximum spend allowed for cars in the rally.”
The team at Together Trust will be engaging through social media to keep fans and followers up to date with rally reports.
Look out for pictures of the Teddy Bear mascot who will be joining Phil and Jay on the European road trip as they stop off at some landmark back drops.
Phil added: “We leave Stockport this Wednesday lunchtime, 21st September, ready for a Thursday AM ferry across the channel, arriving back in Stockport next Tuesday.”
Marketing Stockport’s Helen White added: “We are delighted to welcome DSG Auto Contracts and Phil as our latest member. It is particularly great to see yet another successful Stockport based business supporting a local charity.
“We would like to wish Phil and Jay the very best of luck and look forward to hearing about the adventures.”
