Drone photography reveals Weir Mill rooftop garden

New drone footage and photography have captured views of Capital&Centric’s £60 million transformation of Weir Mill, including a first glimpse at its rooftop garden, the highest in the city-region outside of Manchester city centre.

Perched above the emerging neighbourhood, the roof garden at Weir Mill will give residents a one-of-a-kind spot to relax and take in panoramic views of the Mersey and Stockport skyline.

To mark the latest milestone in the development, Capital&Centric has released new photographs, showing the rooftop garden in progress. The garden promises to offer an elevated retreat for residents with greenery, seating and wraparound views, designed to be a peaceful escape above the hustle and bustle.

Designed to bring people together, the rooftop garden will be kitted out with an outdoor kitchen, which future residents can book for alfresco dining. The lawn has loads of space to kick back and catch rays in, and is set to be scene for future rooftop yoga classes.

Set against the backdrop of the development’s 14-storey landmark building, which marks a new addition to Stockport’s skyline, the rooftop garden is already turning heads. Rail passengers can catch a glimpse of the lush, green gardens rising above the town centre as they pass by atop the iconic viaduct.

The Weir Mill development is being delivered in partnership with Stockport Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and is a flagship project in the wider £1 bn regeneration of Stockport town centre. Located next to the viaduct and a short walk from the Interchange and train station, the site is being reinvented as a vibrant, mixed-use community featuring:

• 253 design-led apartments, across the restored mill buildings and striking new blocks
• Public squares, gardens and riverside terraces providing bags of space for alfresco eats, events, pop-ups and places to chill
• A line up of independent cafés, bars and eateries
• Resident amenity that includes: rooftop garden, gym, co-working space, private dining & mini cini
