Dow is set to open its new UK & Ireland headquarters at Cheadle Royal Business Park in Stockport.
The global science solutions provider has pre-let a two-floor, 26,037 sq. ft. self-contained unit to house its national management team, technical and sales office, and a product research and development (R&D) facility.
Cheadle Royal Business Park is a £175m development delivered by national urban regeneration and development specialists, Muse Developments. Set in mature parkland close to major national and international transport links such as Manchester Airport, it benefits from access to a range of on-site amenities, including shops, bars, restaurants and health facilities.
Dow is a Fortune 50 global multinational, which was founded in 1897 in Michigan, USA; and has been operating in the UK since the 1950s. Today, it combines the power of science and technology to bring innovative solutions to a variety of industries, including packaging, consumer care and infrastructure.
Andrew Jones, President UK & Ireland, Dow said:
“We look forward to moving our UK & Ireland headquarters to Cheadle Royal, which sits at the heart of a strong customer base in the North of England. Cheadle Royal provides us with the state-of-the-art facilities we need to support our continued growth.”
Greg Ball, development surveyor at Muse, said:
“We’re delighted to pre-let a self-contained building to Dow on the Oakfield 4 plot which will complete development on that part of the scheme, with Lakeside 4000 the only plot available.
“Attracting Dow, who are a major blue chip company, is a significant accomplishment for Cheadle Royal and the borough of Stockport, which will bring highly-skilled jobs and investment to the area.”
Councillor Kate Butler, cabinet member for economy and regeneration at Stockport Council said:
“I’m delighted to welcome Dow to Stockport. Their decision to move their UK headquarters is a huge boost for our town, and sees them joining the likes of Adidas, Starkey Laboratories and MAN Diesel and Turbo, who have all their main bases in the borough.
“Stockport is arguably one of the UK’s prime and best connected business locations and has time and again proved a popular destination for companies looking to make significant investments. These decisions bring new jobs and opportunities to the borough, benefiting everyone who lives and works in Stockport.”
A planning application will be submitted to the local authority imminently. Construction is anticipated to commence in spring 2019, with the development completing early in 2020.
Other businesses currently based at Cheadle Royal, include Together Money, Jarden and Agilent Technologies.
