Don’t be an April Fool – be prepared and back up your files on March 31st!!
World Backup Day will fall on the eve of April Fools’ Day – designed to create awareness around the scary reality of data loss and the importance of protecting your IT assets through backing up. However, it’s more than that! It is also observed to encourage IT Administrators to test the effectiveness of their backup strategy.
Amshire IT solutions offer some foolproof advice:
What is backup?
A backup is a second copy of all your important files. Instead of storing it all in one place i.e. on your computer you keep another copy of everything somewhere safe.
Why should I backup?
Losing your files is truly more common that you may think. Have you ever lost your phone or camera or both? That counts too, your stuff could have been saved with a simple backup. One small accident or failure could destroy all the important stuff you care about!
DID YOU KNOW …
30% of people have never backed up
29% of disasters are caused by accident
113 phones are lost and/or stolen every minute
1 in 10 computers are infected with viruses each month
Amshire’s Managing Director Trevor Taylor:
“No one likes to think a disaster is going to happen to them, however, preparing for disaster situations and putting in place plans for recovery can make all the difference between businesses that are able to successfully manage a crisis and carry on trading.
“For the most part, today’s office technology is very reliable and major system failures are few and far between. However, occasionally systems such as hard drives and system software on Servers or PCs can, without notice, stop working. When that happens, a business can also stop working.”
Having a disaster recovery solution in place before this type of event happens will enable your business to continue to function with minimal disruption – from monitoring daily backups to full Server imaging services – what’s right for a business will depend on budget and on how business critical it is to have on-going access to company data and IT systems.
