Over 250 performing arts students from the age of 2 years to adult are about to have their dreams crushed as the Debut Arts Academy loses their studios.
Through no fault of the school owners, the studios are to be closed from Monday 25th June 2018 as the building is repossessed following their landlord going bankrupt. The students have been preparing for their annual summer show which is the at the beginning of July and it looks like they will have no where to even rehearse for what could be their final performance.
The school had been given just 28 days to find alternative accommodation which had proved extremely difficult. They thought they had secured a building just a couple of days ago and had started to make the plans for the move this weekend. Then last night the devastating news came that this building was no longer available as the landlord had decided he did not want to rent it out and had decided to sell.
Debut Arts Academy a family run business, has been the heart and soul of the local community for over 20 years and has seen many of it’s students succeed in the performing arts industry and go on to gain profession careers. Winning Vocational School of the Year was another great achievement they won last year and the school has gone from strength to strength.
Providing free dance classes to families affected by cancer and those families who through no fault of their own would not be able to afford access to the arts, Debut Arts truly supports the local community and all it’s families.
“We cannot go down without a fight and need premises where we can continue to flourish and grow and provide access to the arts for ALL.
“We are begging you to please help us to get our story out so we can SAVE OUR SCHOOL. We have had 3 break in and 2 floods in our premises in the last 3 months and now the eviction. Can you help save us?”
