Digital ID Group Acquired by US ID Company

Stockport based Digital ID Group has been acquired by AlphaCard Systems, the largest ID card company in the USA. 

Digital ID, the UK’s biggest ID Card Company launched in 1990, have announced a deal with AlphaCard Systems LLC, based in Portland, Oregon. The deal will see AlphaCard Systems LLC acquire Digital ID Group Ltd, collectively creating the world’s largest ID card company.

Established in 1998, AlphaCard Systems is the largest ID card company in the US, specialising in the supply of photo ID card printers, consumables and ID software to a well-established end-user client base. With the addition of the Digital ID, the group now employs 360 staff in offices located in 11 cities around the globe.

“The opportunity to join forces with AlphaCard Systems, was an opportunity we couldn’t turn down. AlphaCard has an excellent reputation in the industry, an impressive team of staff and a fantastic client base.

“This acquisition enables us to rapidly evolve our growth strategy, which in part has been fuelled by the launch of our own advanced ID card design software, EasyBadge, and we’re excited to push this to the US market. The partnership will see us create around 40 new jobs, taking the business from 60 employees to 100 strong over the next three years.”

The Digital ID Group is on track to achieve an impressive 20% organic growth in 2018, with an anticipated turnover of £22 million.

The deal comes at an excellent time for both brands with the launch of the new IDP Smart 31 card printer to the ID market.

Now in its 28th year, the business is still family-run with offices in London, Gothenburg, Amsterdam and its head office in Stockport, South Manchester.
