Work done by Stockport Council and partners under the Stockport Digital Inclusion Alliance to deliver its DigiKnow service is being recognised with a nomination in the 2023 iNetwork Innovation Awards, in the Substantial Impact Award category.
The service helps to tackle digital exclusion in the borough, helping people to get online and gain confidence using the internet safely. Since launching in 2018, Digiknow has supported over 47,000 Stockport residents with digital services.
Now in their tenth year, the iNetwork Innovation Awards present a great opportunity to celebrate, learn, and share innovation across the local public sector. They aim to shine a spotlight on local authority projects and teams across Greater Manchester that are transforming public service delivery to provide better services for our communities.
Shortlisted finalists will be announced by Friday, 2 February 2024, with winners announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday, 7 March 2024. Winners will be decided by both judge’s comments, and an online poll where the public for the projects they think have contributed most to improving digital service excellence.
Cllr Jilly Julian, Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources, said:
“The nomination of DigiKnow in these awards is great recognition of the important work that our council colleagues, partners and volunteers are doing to help those in our community who need assistance with digital technology. In a time when nearly everything can be done online and so much of life is digital, it can be very isolating and a significant disadvantage for people to not have access to a computer or know how to use the internet. I’ve heard first-hand the life-changing impact that being able to confidently get online has had. DigiKnow is invaluable in helping bridge the digital gap and improve digital inclusivity across the borough, and has so far reached over 47,000 of our residents! We are extremely proud of the DigiKnow service and would be grateful for your vote.”
Voting can be done on the iNetwork website, where information about submissions in each category can also be found. Voting closes at midnight on Sunday, 21 January 2024.
