Danish homewares retailer, JYSK, has opened the doors of its newest store to customers in Stockport to bring a touch of Scandi-chic to homes in the borough.
The new 1200 sq metre site at Manchester Road Retail Park in Stockport is the retailer’s 23rd UK store, and its fourth in Greater Manchester: the Danish brand also has outlets in Oldham, Bolton and a recently opened Bury store. JYSK also has its UK and Ireland Head Office on Pepper Road in Hazel Grove.
Store Manager at the new Stockport store which opened on 8th July, Mark Armitage said:
We are incredibly excited to bring the JYSK brand to Stockport.
“JYSK’s affordable Scandi-style furniture and homeware along with its extensive range of sleeping products created by experts is becoming infamous in the Greater Manchester area – we’re calling it the ‘JYSK fever’! We know our affordable and chic furniture and homewares are going to get people in Stockport excited too. Stockport is also the home of JYSK UK headquarters so this store opening feels even more special. It’s a big moment that signifies how much the JYSK brand has grown.”
As well as investing in its store presence in Greater Manchester, JYSK has timed the Stockport store opening with the start of a new partnership with the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity to help address the issue of rough sleeping and homelessness across the city region. By using contactless donation points in-store, customers can opt to make a small donation when paying for their JYSK items to pledge support towards the cause. The partnership will run across all four of the Danish retailer’s stores in the Greater Manchester region: Stockport, Oldham, Bolton and Bury.
JYSK’s Sales and Marketing Manager, UK and Ireland, Jenny Johnston said:
Everyone deserves the right to a home. As a homeware retailer, we and our customers truly understand and value the gratification and comfort that comes with being able to transform our houses into homes. Enormous headway has been made so far in helping to reduce the numbers of those sleeping rough within the city and its suburbs. We are delighted to be able to support the organisation in its efforts to do more to address the issue and enable more people to transition safely to secure accommodation”.
Vanessa Haworth, Head of Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity added:
We are thrilled to see our contactless donation points in JYSK stores across Greater Manchester. Working with an international brand like JYSK, and one which values the importance of home so closely, is exciting for us as a charity. JYSK and its customers could really have a substantial impact on helping us to prevent homelessness in Greater Manchester with donations helping to provide the foundations for a better future for many.”
In celebration of the Stockport store’s launch, JYSK will have a selection of store-exclusive offers for shoppers during its opening week.
