Stockport IT support business, CTRL-S is supporting National Apprenticeship Week 2025 (10th to 16th Februrary) by reaffirming its commitment to training the next generation of IT professionals.
A report from Forbes highlights that the IT sector continues to face a significant skills gap, with 93% of UK businesses saying there is an IT skills gap. Apprenticeships play a vital role in addressing this shortage by providing aspiring professionals with a direct pathway into the industry.
Most of the CTRL-S team began their journeys with the firm as apprentices before continuing their employment long-term. Several senior team members, including Technical Director Matt, Chief Technologist Jamie, and Chief Data Analyst Paul, have already completed their apprenticeship programmes, with other colleagues currently pursuing them.
Data Analyst, Christian Walker, and Technologist, Joe Thorpe, are nearing the completion of their apprenticeships, having gained invaluable real-world experience throughout their time with CTRL-S. Joe is working towards his Level 3 Information Communications Technician certification, while Chris is working through his Level 3 Data Technician certification. Their journeys highlight the effectiveness of apprenticeships in developing both technical skills and confidence in handling IT challenges. As they transition into full-time roles, they serve as prime examples of how apprenticeships lead to long-term career success.
Halfway through his Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship, Marcus Longmore is, steadily gaining expertise while applying his knowledge in a practical setting. With ongoing mentorship from senior team members, Marcus continues to build a strong foundation in IT security, preparing him for a bright future in the industry.
CTRL-S has also recently welcomed its newest apprentice, Louis, who is just beginning his Business Analyst Apprenticeship journey. Through our structured apprenticeship support, Louis will receive hands-on training and mentorship.
In a newsletter post on LinkedIn, the CTRL-S team commented:
“As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2025, we are excited to continue our mission of training and developing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. Apprenticeships provide an invaluable opportunity for young talent to gain practical experience while building a sustainable and rewarding career. We are immensely proud of our apprentices – past and present – and look forward to supporting many more in the years to come.“
