Stockport Council’s MOSAIC Drug and Alcohol Service has been rated as ‘Good with Outstanding features’ following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The service was praised by the CQC report, with inspectors describing the service as “tenacious until there was an outcome for the client”. The MOSAIC Drug and Alcohol Service aims to prevent and reduce substance-abuse related harm and promotes recovery for young people and families in the borough.
The positive CQC rating for the service comes following an in-person inspection in December 2021 as well as a review of information provided by patients, the public and other organisations.
Cllr Colin Foster, Cabinet Member for Children, Family Services and Education at Stockport Council, said:
“I’m delighted that the MOSAIC service has had such a positive inspection report. This reflects the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in delivering this vital service.
This report findings show that – even against the backdrop of a pandemic which has provided monumental challenges – young people in our borough will get the support and care they require in this area.”
Areas where Stockport Council’s MOSAIC Drug and Alcohol Service was particularly praised in the CQC report include:
- Compassionate treatment of clients, and actively involving them in decisions and care planning
- Ease of access and lack of waiting list
- Good assessment and management of risk, and good safeguarding practices
- Recovery-oriented care plans and comprehensive client assessments
- Access to the full range of specialists required to meet the needs of clients under the service’s care
- Advocacy to other services on behalf of clients
