Stockport County’s official match day commentaries will return to local station 104.9 Imagine FM next season.
Stockport County has signed a deal giving exclusive rights to Imagine FM as an official media partner.
The Stockport-based radio station will provide full match commentary of all Hatter’s games, home and away, as well as pre-match build-up, post-match reaction and exclusive County interviews.
Imagine FM has been an independent Stockport owned radio station since it was bought from the national UTV network in 2009. They are now based in the town’s iconic Strawberry Studios as part of the Mondiale group.
Mondiale Chairman, Damian Walsh said: “When we took Imagine over from UTV in 2009 they had already relinquished the County commentary. We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring County back to the station and work with the club going forward as they seek to regain Football League status. We will do everything we can to help the club and the fans on that journey.”
County Chairman Richard Park said: “County has a commitment to be a genuine community football club, and Imagine FM can help us to enhance our profile across the borough. Their coverage will put County into even more homes and businesses across the town.”
County commentator Jon Keighren has signed a deal to join Imagine FM and said: “This will be my 21st anniversary as the voice of Stockport County and I am delighted to be returning to Imagine after a ten-year absence. Pure 107.8 FM did a great job for the Hatters, and we are grateful for their support since 2007, but Imagine can help to grow our audience even more and provide fans with a service which is unrivalled in the National League.”
Jon added: “We also have hundreds of subscribers all over the world who rely on us to bring them full commentary of every game via the official County website, and we will be streaming the Imagine FM coverage to Hatters fans all over the globe.”
