As the country prepares to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, Stockport-based charity Seashell has chosen to mark the occasion in its own special way with a tree planting.
With the help of a group of volunteers from Together, the charity has planted its very own King Charles Copse of trees. Seashell is Together’s chosen charity partner and the Cheadle-based specialist lender has generously paid for the trees.
Seashell, which is currently celebrating its bicentenary, can trace back its Royal Patronage to Queen Victoria who bestowed it upon the charity in 1897. Succeeding monarchs have chosen to continue this tradition. Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, the charity is waiting to hear if a new Royal Patron might be forthcoming.
Dominic Tinner, Relationships Director at Seashell, said:
“We felt it only fitting to recognise this landmark in the history of the country and to do something that would leave a lasting legacy on the campus for future generations of students who attend both Royal School Manchester and Royal College Manchester.”
Kevin Fisher, Group Director of People at Together, said:
“Together has an extensive programme to support the local community and one of our ambitions is the creation of a Together Forest. My team and I were thrilled to be able to support Seashell in the creation of a beautiful natural area in the grounds of the new school.”
