Housebuilders, Bloor Homes, have opened a consultation on their proposed housing development on former Seashell Trust land in Heald Green.
Planning has already been approved for the 325 new homes following an appeal to the Secretary of State for Housing which overturned Stockport Council’s decision. However, developers wish to hear views of local residents of Heald Green and Cheadle Hulme on their detailed plans, ahead of a reserved matters application, which would cover access and landscaping on the site.
Bloor Homes have launched a website for the Heald Green housing development to share plans and receive feedback from the local community.
The development will consist of 325 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes with 30% reserved for affordable housing, half made available for rent and the rest offered through a shared ownership scheme. The proposed scheme also includes a children’s play area and new walking and cycling routes to connect with existing infrastructure.
Bloor also estimate the development will bring £7 million a year into the local economy, through resident spend in local shops, as well as from Council Tax revenue.
The planned development is situated on a tract of land off Wilmslow Road in between Heald Green and Cheadle Hulme, previously owned by local charity, Seashell Trust. The charity confirmed the sale of the land to Bloor Homes in June 2020, enabling the charity to raise funds to modernise its campus and build a new school for children with communication challenges.
The consultation is expected to close on 2nd August ahead of the planning submission to Stockport Council.
