Over £600,000 has been invested into Manchester Airport’s Runway Visitor Park over the last year, including a brand new restaurant which opened its doors this month.
The brand new Concorde Restaurant & Coffee House officially opened this week but has been welcoming guests since September 19 following a £300,000 seven week long refurbishment which has included a complete remodel and new state-of-the-art kitchen.
Upgrades have been made to the main car park as well as the hangar itself which houses Concorde, the security and event equipment.
Runway Visitor Park Manager, Robert Pattison said:
“It’s important for us to continue to offer excellent facilities on site so our customers can enjoy every moment of their visit to the park. With ever-increasing visitor numbers, we want to ensure every customer has the best experience possible and will continue to invest in the park. We’re really excited about the new restaurant opening; they have a brand new menu with a great selection of full meals, snacks and takeaway options and a completely new look.

Doug Tetley, managing director for Delaware North, said:
“It has been a great honour for Delaware to have been involved in the creation of The Concorde Restaurant & Coffee House, which will be a fantastic addition to one of Manchester’s major tourist attractions. The work we have done has seen the restaurant completely remodelled and our improvements ensure we are able to deliver customers a new level of service.
“The new cafe is perfect for those dropping in for a quick drink while they enjoy the sensational sight of the iconic supersonic jet. And our new kitchen facilities allow us to cater for a range of occasions, offering fantastic menus whether it’s for a family on a day trip, or a conference for 400 seated under the wings of Concorde.”
Robert added:
“We listen to all feedback received and a common observation over the last year for example was that the road leading to the car park and the car park surface itself could be better so we invested £250,000 into improving that, including better drainage. We’ve also invested £20,000 into new event equipment and £20,000 on new footpaths, pedestrian walkways and security lighting.”
Over 330,000 people visit the Runway Visitor Park every year and it has become an increasingly popular choice over the years for corporate events, charity dinners and weddings.
Several celebrity events have also been held at the park over the last year, including Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor’s Genesis Ball, Manchester City footballer James Milner’s Come Fly With Me Charity Ball and many others.
This month the Runway Visitor Park welcomed Rick Astley under the wings of Concorde as he performer at The Teenage Cancer Trust ball on September 27; on September 21 Gary Lineker hosted a charity run event at the park, supporting the Manchester Airport and British Airways Runway Run raising money for Medcare and Sports Relief which raised over £7,000.
