A Stockport business pleaded guilty to flyposting offences at Stockport Magistrates Court on Wednesday 24th July.
Nikamo Ltd, trading as Fit4Less in Stanley Green, Stockport pleaded guilty to 25 counts of flyposting.
The company was fined £750 with costs of £250, plus a £75 victim surcharge.
The offences took place between the 21st December 2012 and 26th January 2013. Council Enforcement Officers responded to complaints received resulting in the successful legal action.
Councillor Stuart Bodsworth, Executive Member for Communities and Sustainability, said: “Flyposting is not only illegal it is unsightly. When we have sufficient evidence the Council will take action against those responsible for these offences and this case should serve as a clear warning.
“We receive many complaints from the public about unauthorised advertising which makes local neighbourhoods look uncared for and can encourage other forms of graffiti and vandalism. Flyposting can also pose a threat to pedestrians and other road users by distracting drivers.”
